Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information is collected when you visit Yestagames, play the browser games, submit a high score, or follow a link to download a mobile game. It is written to be read without a law degree, and it applies only to yestagames.com.
Last updated: 1 November 2026
Who we are
Yestagames (yestagames.com), also shown as Yesta Games, is an independent collection of retro browser games and original mobile games. In this policy, "we", "us", and "our" refer to the operator of Yestagames. Yestagames is not affiliated with the publishers of the classic arcade games that inspire the browser collection.
We do not require you to create an account, and we do not ask for your real name, email address, or payment details to play the browser games.
At a glance
- You can play every browser game without signing in. No account is created and no email address is requested.
- If you submit a high score, the three-character initials and any optional name or comment you enter are stored in our database and shown publicly on the leaderboard.
- We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and collects usage and approximate location information.
- Game settings, control bindings, cached scores, and your Word Shift daily progress are saved in your browser's local storage. They stay on your device until you clear them.
- We do not sell personal information, run advertising on Yestagames, or use cross-site advertising cookies.
- The Word Blitz page links to the Apple App Store and Google Play. Any download or in-app activity is governed by Apple, Google, and the app's own privacy information.
Information you provide
High scores
When you finish a game and choose to submit a score, we collect the information you enter:
- Three-character initials (required).
- An optional display name, up to 40 characters.
- An optional comment, up to 200 characters.
- The score, the level or wave reached, and the date and time of the submission.
This information is stored in our hosted database and displayed publicly on the high-score table for that game. Do not enter sensitive personal information, another person's details, or anything you do not want other visitors to see. Initials, names, and comments can be read by anyone who opens the leaderboard.
Messages to us
If you contact us about privacy, we receive whatever you include in your message. We use it only to respond and to handle your request.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, Yestagames and its service providers collect technical information when you load a page or use an API:
- Server and security logs, including IP address, browser and device type, requested URL, referring page, timestamp, and response status. These logs are generated by our hosting provider, Vercel.
- Analytics information collected by Google Analytics, such as pages viewed, time on page, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser details, and how you arrived at the site.
- Gameplay requests to our API, such as fetching the daily Word Shift puzzle or reading and writing leaderboard entries. These requests do not include an account identifier.
We do not use this information to identify you personally, and we do not combine it with your high-score entry to build a profile.
Cookies and analytics
Yestagames uses Google Analytics 4 to measure traffic and understand which games and pages are useful. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies in your browser, typically named _ga and _ga_*. These cookies help distinguish browsers and sessions so that repeat visits can be counted correctly.
Google may process IP addresses to derive an approximate location. Google states that Google Analytics 4 does not log or store individual IP addresses. The information is processed by Google under its own terms and privacy policy, and data retention is controlled by the settings of our analytics property.
We do not run third-party advertising, retargeting, or cross-site tracking on Yestagames. The only analytics provider currently used is Google.
How to control cookies
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, use a privacy extension, or enable a browser's tracking-protection mode. Blocking analytics cookies does not prevent you from playing the browser games. You can also learn about Google's controls at Google Account privacy settings.
Local storage on your device
The games use your browser's local storage to remember preferences and progress. This information stays in your browser and is not sent to us, except for high scores you explicitly submit. Local storage may include:
- Game settings such as control bindings, joystick side, theme, and difficulty.
- Local high scores and a cached copy of the public leaderboard, so the table still appears if the network is unavailable.
- Your current Shuffle level score and best total score, stored in your browser.
You can clear this information at any time through your browser's site-data settings. Clearing it resets your settings and any unsent progress.
How we use information
- To run the games, daily puzzles, and public high-score tables.
- To respond to privacy requests and other messages.
- To understand traffic and improve the site's content, performance, and accessibility.
- To keep the site secure, prevent abuse, troubleshoot errors, and comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
Legal bases
Where UK or EU data protection law applies, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Legitimate interests in operating the games, displaying leaderboards, keeping the site secure, and understanding aggregate usage.
- Consent where required for analytics cookies or other non-essential technologies. You can withdraw consent at any time by blocking or deleting cookies.
- Legal obligation where we must retain or disclose information to comply with the law.
How information is shared
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only with service providers that help run the site, or where the law requires it:
- Vercel hosts the website and processes request logs and technical data on our behalf.
- Bunny.net provides the hosted database that stores high-score entries and the daily Shuffle puzzle.
- Google Analytics processes usage data and cookie identifiers as described above.
- Authorities or other parties when we believe disclosure is required by law, necessary to protect rights or safety, or needed to investigate abuse.
These providers are bound by their own contracts and privacy obligations and are not permitted to use your information for their own advertising.
How long information is kept
High-score entries are kept for as long as the leaderboard is published, because the table is a permanent feature of the games. We will remove an entry on request where we can identify it. Local storage stays on your device until you clear it. Server logs and analytics data are kept for the periods set by our providers and analytics settings, after which they are deleted or aggregated.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal information, to receive a portable copy, and to withdraw consent. You can also ask us not to sell or share your personal information; we do not sell it.
To exercise a right, contact us as described below. Because there are no accounts, please include enough detail for us to find the relevant leaderboard entry, such as the initials, display name, game, score, and approximate date. We may ask for confirmation before changing or deleting an entry.
If you are in the UK, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. If you are in the EEA, you can complain to your local supervisory authority. We would appreciate the chance to resolve your concern first.
Children
Yestagames is a general-audience site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, contact us and we will remove it. Visitors in regions with a higher age of digital consent should use the site only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
International transfers
Our hosting, database, and analytics providers may process information in countries outside the UK or EEA, including the United States. Where required, transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum. You can ask us for more information about the safeguards used.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, access to the database is restricted by tokens, and only the information needed for the leaderboard is stored. No website can guarantee perfect security, so please avoid submitting anything sensitive to a public leaderboard.
Word Blitz and other third-party links
The Word Blitz page on Yestagames provides download links for the Word Blitz mobile app. This policy covers the Yestagames website; it does not describe data collected inside the mobile app. Once you leave Yestagames, the privacy policies of Apple or Google and the app's own privacy information apply. The app's store listing includes a privacy label describing the data it may collect; review it before installing.
See Apple's privacy policy, Google's privacy policy, and the privacy information shown on the Word Blitz store listing for details. If the app provides its own privacy policy, that policy applies to information collected inside the app.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the site, its providers, or the law changes. The "last updated" date at the top will change, and material changes will be highlighted on this page. Continued use of Yestagames after an update means you accept the revised policy.
Contact
Questions, requests, or complaints about this policy can be sent using the contact form. Please mention "Yestagames privacy" in your message and include the details needed to locate any leaderboard entry.
